[Simply Computers] Re: COMPUTER PROBLEMS

Thanks for advice.  My partner has no recovery discs only for Microsoft Office and the printer!

He has taken it to another engineer, is Microsoft SEcurity Essentials any good also K9, what about AVG or Avast.  The engineer who came seemed very technical, wouldn't show us properly how to take things on or off!

I'm not sure whether you mean there are toolbars on google or not and how you get them back, ie File, edit, view, favourites etc?.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Liz

Liz,

The Subject line of your message is blank ...have you no Subject for us?

As for the computer, please refresh my memory.

Is this the one that your "partner" took to PC World, and was dissatisfied with the results?

Did you also once tell us about a "software engineer" friend of yours? Is this the same person?

You certainly seem to be getting some very poor tech support.

Did this computer come with a Recovery DVD of some sort?

Why not save yourself the bad experiences that other people are dumping on you, and just run the Recovery disk yourself?

Then you can add whatever toolbars and antivirus software that you want to.

Please note that running the Recovery may delete everything on the computer, so be sure to have backup copies of your important stuff.

The Recovery under Windows 7 may offer to Repair Windows, rather than reinstall it, but in your case, I would do the reinstall.

That way your computer will be back to the same way you got it when new.

Finally, if your partner keeps taking the computer to other people, then asking you to come to us for help with it, I'm not sure if we are ever going to get it fixed!

good luck!

How do you put toolbars like edit etc on google.  Has he got enough protection etc on his computer?  We mentioned to the engineer we weren't keen on the change but he said we shouldn't have toolbar buttons as we can get viruses.  I look forward to your reply
